Hi Guys. So, how much sunscreen do we REALLY need? We definitely don’t need how much I have on my face in the thumbnail photo. LOL. In this video, I will show you how much SPF you ‘should’ be applying to your FACE, NECK & CHEST. From the research I have done, there are specific measurements to get the proper amount of SPF listed on your sunscreen bottle, tube, etc. I have read that we need to apply around 2mg/cm2. And in this video I will….. NOT be figuring out that calculation. LOL But I will show you that it breaks down to approximately 1/2 teaspoon per many guidelines. This would also vary depending on the TYPE of sunscreen you use. Remember PHYSICAL /MINERAL sunscreens basically just skin on the skin and provide a PHYSICAL barrier and they block the harmful rays of the sun. CHEMICAL sunscreens penetrate into your skin and absorb the harmful rays. SO physical sunscreens work immediately and should be applied as your LAST STEP in your skincare routine. Chemical sunscreens absorb into the skin and I’m still not sure if they need to be the very 1st step in your skincare routine after washing your face or still the very last after you’ve applied your serums and moisturizer. It would make sense that chemical sunscreens should be the very 1st step since they absorb and if you apply other serums or lotions 1st, then how can the chemicals absorb properly? But I have read also that chemical sunscreens still need to be applied last. Not real sure since many experts differ in opinion, but I usually use a physical sunscreen anyways. But to protect your skin the best, check with your dermatologist or expert. Everyone’s skin is different.
